This is a temporary on call, remote position and is scheduled for between 2-3 hours/day, and 2-3 days/week. The final schedule will vary depending on program need.
This position will earn sick leave.

Purpose Statement
The job of Instructor - Digital Innovation is done for the purpose/s of developing student success educator and staff capacity in academics, digital learning and artificial intelligence (AI) tools (e.g. AI applications, digital platforms, educational technology, etc.) by implementing district department-approved curriculum programs and school improvement digital innovation plans; documenting teaching, training and student participant progress/activities/outcomes; developing lesson instructional content and training plans; modeling successful digital learning strategies; and planning professional development activities.
Essential Functions
Liaison Role Acts as a liaison between teachers, school district technology staff, and administrators for the purpose of coordinating curriculum and digital innovation initiatives, identifying issues, and/or developing leadership and collaborative implementation teams.
Collaboration Collaborates with others (e.g. ESD staff, member district personnel, vendors, public agencies, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining digital learning services in accordance with programmatic and regulatory requirements.
Activity Coordination Coordinates a variety of activities (e.g. AI training workshops, EdTech in-service programs, digital resource circulation, processing of library media materials, scheduling, program integration, recruitment, staff development, etc.) for the purpose of delivering services in support of digital innovation and school improvement.
Teaching Demonstration Demonstrates teaching digital learning and AI integration techniques for the purpose of providing effective strategies to improve student success and educator and staff use of technology.
Training Program Development Develops and implements staff training programs related to the integration of reading, math, writing, other subjects, AI tools, digital platforms, educational technology, and related topics for the purpose of providing a variety of teaching strategies to enhance digital competency and student success outcomes.
Digital Curriculum Alignment Facilitates digital curriculum alignment activities, assist staff with implementation of adopted instructional materials, EdTech tools and AI applications, and research intervention materials and emerging digital resources for the purpose of supplementing adopted materials and existing programs.
Grant Writing Initiates grant writing for the purpose of serving consortia of local school districts with technology, digital innovation and AI implementation.
Record Maintenance Maintains files and/or records for the purpose of ensuring compliance with relevant regulations/guidelines.
Meeting Participation Participates in meetings (e.g. workshops, conferences, regional/statewide activities, etc.) for the purpose of keeping current with technological advances, curriculum development, etc., advances in AI, educational technology, and digital learning, and/or providing training and/or technical assistance to member districts/personnel.
Materials Preparation Prepares a wide variety of materials (e.g. plans, budgets, reports, analyses, recommendations, procedures, letters, memos, emails, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and issues, meeting program objectives and/or making presentations/recommendations.
Technical Assistance and Training Provides technical assistance and/or training to member district (e.g. technology planning, curriculum/program, AI literacy, digital learning platform adoption, EdTech program implementation, media and/or equipment recommendations, technology integration, etc.) for the purpose of assisting member districts in the integration of technology, AI and digital tools into curriculum and/or supporting school and/or district goals.
Research Researches a variety of topics (e.g. technology, AI tools, digital learning strategies, best practices, assessment practices, school restructuring, educational technology, etc.) for the purpose of keeping abreast of current trends and tools related to digital innovation and educational improvement (i.e., OER).
Inquiry Response Responds to inquiries (e.g. teachers, principals, administrators, students, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or recommendations related to digital learning and AI integration.
Training and Education Trains teachers and administrators on AI tools, digital learning best practices, learning strategies, school structure, EdTech integration, etc., for the purpose of improving educator effectiveness and student success.
Materials and Equipment Transport Transports materials and equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items as needed.
Travel Requirements Travels, as needed, to school districts and other training locations for the purpose of performing the essential functions of the position.
Other Functions
Personnel Assistance Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Related Duties Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge Required Knowledge is required to perform advanced math; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: age-appropriate activities, adult learning principles; concepts of grammar and punctuation; school restructuring processes, AI and digital learning platforms and systems; performance-based assessments and scoring rubrics, data interpretation; and pertinent codes, policies, regulations, and/or laws.
Skills Required Skills are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: applying instructional and assessment techniques in digital learning contexts; operating standard office equipment, including pertinent software applications and AI platforms; and preparing and maintaining accurate records. Experience in P-12 teaching, AI integration, or adult digital learning training preferred.
Abilities Required Ability is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate.
Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: effectively communicating with people of varied backgrounds and educational levels; setting priorities; working as part of a team; working with detailed information/data; traveling; and the flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization's services.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 40% sitting, 10% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Education and Experience Requirements
Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Education: Bachelor's degree in job related area.
Education (Preferred): Masters Degree or Advanced Training Preferred.
