ER Registered Nurse

Overview

We are seeking an Emergency Department RN, also referred to as an Emergency Room RN (ER RN) or Emergency Services RN (ES-RN). The Emergency Department RN provides rapid and skilled care to patients who arrive at the hospital seeking emergency medical attention. The ER Nurses are skilled professionals who play a critical role in delivering emergent and urgent care to patients in the emergency department.

• Location: Harlingen Medical Center - Harlingen, Texas

Qualifications --------------

If you have experience as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Cardiac Care, Telemetry or Emergency Department, you are encouraged to apply!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities --------------------------------------

• Assess patients upon arrival to determine the severity of their condition and prioritize care accordingly
• Follow standardized triage protocols to quickly identify patients who require immediate attention due to life-threatening conditions
• Provide direct care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions and injuries
• Administer medications, perform procedures such as wound care or splinting, monitor vital signs, and manage pain
• Assist with stabilizing patients and initiating life-saving interventions, including advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), and trauma care
• Manage high-stress and rapidly changing situations effectively
• Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment options, and discharge instructions

Deal-Breakers -------------

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

• EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
  1. Current and valid state RN License
  2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current
  3. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  4. Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  5. Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire
  6. Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred
  7. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred
  8. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

     Facility Specific Requirements -----------------------------

     • In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current
     • EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire
     • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required
