Job Description

An ER EMT Technician, working full-time in a hospital emergency room, is a licensed Emergency Medical Technician responsible for providing immediate medical care to patients arriving with urgent or life-threatening conditions, assisting doctors and nurses with procedures, monitoring vital signs, administering basic life support, and preparing necessary equipment and supplies under the supervision of healthcare professionals.

ER EMT Technician- FT 

Under the supervision of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or Registered Nurse, in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Nursing delegation and supervision guidelines, assists with a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities.


These include:

  • Assistance with activities of daily living, comfort care and nutritional support.
  • Performance of selected diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and procedures as directed.
  • Indirect patient care activities include maintaining a clean safe environment, ensuring adequate inventory of supplies and equipment, and data collection as pertinent to the patient population.
  • Transports patients in hospital observing safety guidelines. Maintains advanced transport medical knowledge and abilities.

Qualifications


Experience: One year EMT-Advanced, EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic experience preferred.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Certified in the State of Virginia as an EMT-Advanced, EMT-Intermediate or EMT-Paramedic (required) and maintains National Registered status (preferred). AHA BLS - HCP, and ACLS required. PALS, Haz Mat Awareness, NRP and PHTLS or BTLS required within one year from date of hire.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must maintain continuing education hours to meet re-certification status as required by State and National standards.
