Wood is recruiting for an Equipment Rebuild Specialist (ERS) to join its Operations Americas business. This opportunity is on-site in Deer Park, Texas.

The Role

As the Equipment Rebuild Specialist (ERS) you will be responsible for supporting plant reliability and cost efficiency by identifying, assessing, and executing the rebuilding of critical equipment and components within the storeroom environment.

This role ensures that reusable parts and assemblies are restored to operational condition in compliance with site standards, OEM specifications, and RAGAGEP (Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices). The position serves as a key link between maintenance, reliability, and storeroom functions by optimizing spare parts availability, improving asset lifecycle performance, and reducing unnecessary costs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety, Quality & Work Practices
  • Adhere to all plant and Maintenance safety policies, procedures, and shop work requirements
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and preservation of equipment and spare parts.
  • Maintains good general housekeeping, organized, and safe rebuild workspace within the storeroom and maintenance areas.
  • Promote a culture of quality, precision, and continuous improvement.
Equipment Assessment & Rebuild
  • Evaluate returned, damaged, or surplus equipment to determine rebuild vs. replacement viability.
  • Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and rebuilding components including, but not limited to, pumps, valves, gearboxes, seals, and other critical equipment.
  • Verify tolerances, fits, and performance against OEM specifications and site standards.
  • Conduct functional checks and quality inspections prior to returning equipment to inventory or service.
  • Requests for support from Maintenance Engineer / Maintenance Technologist regarding repair guidelines for repeat / repetitive jobs to support Reliability.
  • Supports training of Lubrizol and contractor employees, same craft, multi-craft, as required.
Storeroom Integration & Spare Parts Optimization
  • Partner with storeroom personnel to identify reclaimable and repairable parts.
  • Support classification of spare parts (repairable, reusable, scrap) to optimize inventory value.
  • Maintain accurate inventory status for rebuilding components, including condition tracking and traceability.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Document all inspections, rebuild activities, and test results in CMMS and/or inventory management systems.
  • Maintain detailed records of equipment condition, failure modes, and rebuilding history.
  • Ensures all rebuilds comply with Lubrizol standards, OEM manuals and specifications
Failure Analysis & Continuous Improvement
  • Assess failed components to identify damage mechanisms and root causes (e.g., wear, corrosion, misalignment, lubrication issues).
  • Provide feedback to maintenance and reliability teams to prevent recurrence.
  • Recommend improvements to component design, materials, and/or maintenance procedures (SOPs) where appropriate.
  • Support reliability initiatives, including bad actor elimination, creating and lifecycle cost reduction.
