Position Information

Description & Details:

Join our team at the Agronomy Seed Farm and play a hands-on role in producing high-quality Foundation seed. This position offers a great opportunity to work with modern equipment, support agricultural research, and be part of a collaborative, field-focused environment.

In this role, you will assist with all aspects of seed production, including planting, spraying, harvesting, and monitoring fields to ensure effective weed control. You'll operate large-scale, modern farm equipment and transport machinery on public roads, gaining valuable experience with advanced agricultural practices. Responsibilities also include operating seed cleaning equipment and preparing both bulk and bagged seed for customers.

You will work closely with research scientists, breeders, and technicians, providing support with land preparation and seasonal tillage. Additionally, you'll help coordinate and perform routine maintenance on farm equipment to keep operations running smoothly.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday (8 hours/day) Additional overtime hours as needed.

Hiring Range: $45,000 - $59,000 depending on experience.

Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Agriculture and/or 2 years of related experience in large-scale farm equipment operation and repair.

  • Current drivers license.

Preferred Qualification

  • Bachelors of Science in Agronomy or related field.

  • Two years experience operating modern large scale farm equipment including current GPS technology.

  • Experience in seed cleaning equipment and seed handling.

  • Strong mechanical skills with ability to weld and repair equipment.

  • Knowledge of GPS guidance equipment and newer farm equipment operation.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Ability to work as a team player and provide service to customers.

  • Knowledge of QuickBooks and farm management software.

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Current commercial pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain within one year

  • Class B or CDL license.
