Scope of Work

Equipment Operator I is an entry-level Equipment Operator Position. Training on street maintenance equipment will be provided. Equipment Operator I will perform a variety of tasks including general labor and the operation of motorized equipment and hand tools used in the maintenance and/or construction of the City of Midlands street and drainage infrastructure and perform daily preventative maintenance on motorized equipment and/or hand tools.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

The incumbent works in an outside environment; frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Must be able to lift working materials several times daily.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Education & Work Experience

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • 6 months experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills

Education/ Experience:

  • 1+ years related experience

  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance requirements of power-driven equipment
