An opportunity awaits a City of Pacifica employee for the position of Equipment Operator, a position where the employee would operate varied construction and maintenance equipment.
DEFINITION
Under general supervision, to operate varied equipment in the construction and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, curb, gutter, sewers, storm drains, utilities and other public works;
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is the journey level class in the equipment operator series.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receive general supervision from higher level staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Operates graders, rollers, crawler tractors, front-end loaders, backhoes, street sweepers and similar equipment in working on a variety of construction and maintenance projects;
- Cuts to grade, moves earth, spreads material, digs ditches, loads trucks, prepares subgrades, resurfaces streets, makes cuts and fills, does finishing grading;
- Operates street sweeper to remove dirt and debris from the streets and gutters,
- Inspect vehicles and equipment;
- Maintains sweepers in good repair;
- Adjusts and makes minor repairs to equipment;
- installs sweeper brooms;
- Installs street signs;
- Fill in pot holes;
- Clean storm drains;
- Repair barricades;
- May supervise several assistants;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
