The Equipment Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role supports both operational and customer needs through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, and repair services. The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, safety-focused, and experienced working with construction, industrial, rental, or heavy equipment.
What you'll do:
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and operational issues on a variety of equipment
Inspect, repair, and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability
Remove, repair, reinstall, and adjust components such as engines, fuel systems, and related mechanical assemblies
Perform preventative maintenance services including lubrication, inspections, fluid changes, and component replacement
Conduct safety inspections and operational checks in accordance with company standards
Field Service & Customer Support
Respond to service calls and emergency repair requests as needed
Assist customers and internal teams with equipment-related concerns and service recommendations
Support equipment troubleshooting and operational guidance
Maintain professional communication regarding repair status, timelines, and service requirements
Documentation & Reporting
Prepare repair estimates and service recommendations
Complete work orders, maintenance records, and repair documentation accurately and on time
Maintain communication with management regarding repair progress, equipment condition, and operational concerns
Track maintenance activities and support equipment history documentation
Safety & Compliance
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Ensure repairs and maintenance activities comply with company standards and applicable regulations
Report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, and operational risks promptly
Team Collaboration
Work closely with service personnel, operations teams, and customers to support business needs
Assist with training and mentoring team members as needed
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and operational efficiency
Perform additional duties as assigned
What you'll bring:
Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills
Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and repair documentation
Experience using diagnostic tools and equipment
Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Strong communication and customer service skills
Minimum 2 years of hands-on equipment maintenance or repair experience
Experience with construction, industrial, agricultural, rental, or heavy equipment
Familiarity with hydraulic, electrical, fuel, and engine systems
Experience with computerized diagnostics and work order systems
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Work is performed in shop, yard, warehouse, and field service environments
Exposure to machinery, moving equipment, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in physically demanding conditions
Ability to lift and move materials and components (up to 75 lbs as required)
May require travel for field service calls and emergency repairs
May require extended hours based on operational needs
