Description

Seeking an experienced Epic Integration Engineer to join our growing healthcare technology team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting integrations between Epic and third-party healthcare applications. This role requires strong expertise in healthcare interoperability, HL7 messaging, and interface engine technologies to ensure seamless data exchange across clinical and business systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and support integrations between Epic and third-party healthcare applications.
  • Build, configure, test, and maintain HL7 interfaces to facilitate secure and reliable data exchange.
  • Utilize healthcare integration engines such as Cloverleaf (preferred), Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, or similar integration platforms.
  • Develop and support interfaces connecting Epic with laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, billing, and other ancillary systems.
  • Troubleshoot interface issues, monitor interface performance, and resolve production support incidents.
  • Collaborate with Epic application teams, vendors, business stakeholders, and technical teams to deliver integration solutions.
  • Perform interface testing, validation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance activities.
  • Support Epic implementation, upgrade, and interface enhancement initiatives.
  • Create and maintain interface documentation, technical specifications, and support documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare interoperability standards, organizational policies, and security requirements.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as an Epic Integration Engineer, Interface Engineer, Healthcare Integration Developer, or a related role.
  • Hands-on experience integrating Epic with third-party healthcare applications.
  • Strong experience with HL7 v2.x messaging and healthcare interoperability standards.
  • Experience with one or more healthcare integration engines, including:
  •     Cloverleaf (preferred)
  •     Mirth Connect (NextGen Connect)
  •     Rhapsody
  •     InterSystems Health Connect
  •     Corepoint or similar interface engines
  • Experience integrating laboratory systems, imaging systems, pharmacy systems, or other clinical applications with Epic.
  • Experience troubleshooting, monitoring, and supporting production interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, interface architecture, and system integration.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.

 

Education Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
