We are seeking to hire two (2) Epic Beaker Analysts. Open to hiring from our east, west, or south regions.
Job Summary
The Epic Beaker Analyst is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Epic Beaker applications to enhance patient care, streamline laboratory workflows, and ensure regulatory compliance. Working under minimal supervision, this role supports laboratory operations by responding to end-user requests, implementing system changes, and contributing to system documentation and validation activities.
Essential Functions
- Configure, maintain, and optimize Epic Beaker and related laboratory applications to support clinical and operational needs.
- Assist in responding to user requests for new tests, modifications, and application updates with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and stakeholders to understand current workflows and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Consult with users to define system requirements, including functional and programming specifications.
- Translate business and clinical requirements into effective Epic system configurations.
- Support the build and maintenance of laboratory test catalogs, instrument interfaces, and workflows within Epic Beaker.
- Assist in documenting system changes, including build specifications, workflows, and user procedures.
- Contribute to validation documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to laboratory applications and integrations.
- Participate in system testing, upgrades, and optimization efforts.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate's Degree or equivalent
- 2 years of relevant experience planning, design, testing, implementation, support, analysis of programs and software, and or a participant in multiple phases of an integrated system implementation (open to considering relevant lab experience)
- Experience with laboratory workflows, including clinical or anatomic pathology processes.
- Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and interfaces
- Experience working with a Laboratory Information System (LIS) or similar clinical application
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Epic Beaker certification held upon hire
- Previous experience supporting Epic Beaker (CP/AP) in a healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements affecting laboratory operations (e.g., CAP, CLIA).
- Experience with system validation, testing, and documentation practices.
- Understanding of healthcare interoperability and interface engines.
- Support the build and maintenance of complex Microbiology testing, cultures, sensitivities, and result workflows.
