TITLE: Special Education Private School Teacher

LOCATION:Buckhannon Christian Academy Served by Upshur County Schools Special Education

EMPLOYMENT TERM: This position will be effective for the 2026-2027 School year and utilized ongoing, as long as need and funding permits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Current West Virginia Elementary Education Certification and Multi-Categorical with Autism Certification

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Private School Principal and Director of Special Education

SALARY: Employment in this position is contingent upon funding availability and staffing needs. Work hours and assignments will be provided on an as-needed, as-funded basis.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with classroom teachers to develop and implement proven instructional support and intervention in compliance with the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Provide high quality instruction and performance support for Special Education students who have an IEP.
  • Utilize identified scientific, research-based interventions focused on small group and individual student needs.
  • Identify student's instructional strengths and weaknesses by administering assessments to guide instruction.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and individual instruction.
  • Prepare lesson plans for identified Special Education students.
  • Maintain accurate reports and documentation required to address the IEP.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of school and student records.
  • Perform such other tasks and assume responsibility as the immediate supervisors
