Part-Time Instructor - Pre-College Summer Programs Educational Opportunity Program EOP | Pre-College Division PCD

The Educational Opportunity Programs EOP Pre-College Division PCD is seeking dynamic passionate and student-centered part-time instructors for potential openings in our College Bound Scholars summer programs. These programs support pre-college students from diverse backgrounds and focus on academic enrichment college access leadership development and career exploration.

Programs Include:

  • Upward Bound
  • Upward Bound Math Science
  • Talent Search
  • DPI Summer Programs

Program Dates:

  • Training begins: Week of June 22
  • Program concludes: Friday July 31

Duties and Responsibilities We are seeking instructors with experience and/or strong interest in one or more of the following areas:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Curriculum: Design engaging age-appropriate lessons that incorporate hands-on learning real-world applications ACT-aligned content and project-based learning.
  • Deliver Instruction: Teach diverse pre-college students using interactive culturally responsive strategies tailored to multiple learning styles and academic levels.
  • Engage Students: Foster a supportive inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation collaboration and persistence.
  • Assess & Provide Feedback: Track student progress and provide constructive feedback to improve academic skills test performance and confidence.
  • Collaborate with Staff: Work closely with program staff attend trainings and meetings and contribute to program-wide goals.
  • Maintain Compliance: Maintain accurate attendance assessment records and documentation in alignment with program policies.
  • Uphold Professionalism: Model professionalism integrity and positive leadership for students.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelors degree
  • Teaching tutoring or instructional experience in mathematics ACT prep or related disciplines
  • Experience working with students or community groups serving low-income and/or underrepresented populations
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary experiential and student-centered learning
  • Content expertise in their instructional area
  • Experience supporting academic skill-building and confidence
  • A passion for working with low-income first-generation and historically underrepresented students

Precollege positions require a strong interest in interdisciplinary curriculum.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Masters degree preferred
  • Experience with ACT preparation curriculum and assessments
  • Mathematics instruction across multiple grade levels
  • AVID instructional strategies
  • Project-Based Learning (PBL)
  • TRIO or similar college access programs
  • Strong classroom management mentoring and relationship-building skills

Candidates with lived experience or cultural familiarity reflective of the TRIO student population (low-income first-generation college students) are strongly encouraged to apply and will receive priority consideration.
