Energy Environmental Group (EEG) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Specialist to support our environmental compliance efforts for electric transmission line construction across the United States. This position will start on an active two-year construction project based out of Ely or Las Vegas, NV July 2026-2028 with the potential to move to other projects or office support in the future. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance, including stormwater inspections in compliance with Nevada DEQ and EPA regulations, ensuring compliance with state, federal and project-specific requirements, and coordinating with various agencies, and acting as the EEG liaison between third-party environmental representatives. Responsibilities:
Experience reviewing state and federal databases, conducting field visits, and coordination with stakeholders/clients.
Liaise with federal, state, and local agencies, utility companies, and stakeholders to ensure compliance and project alignment.
Utilize knowledge of the Army Corps of Engineers Nation Wide Permits for infrastructure projects.
Draft and review Clean Water Act section 404 and 401 permits.
Draft and review environmental compliance documents such as Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, and dust control plans.
Participate in meetings with construction personnel, project management, and clients to ensure project goals are met.
Perform land use and natural resource assessments, collect field data, and support due diligence activities.
Adhere to company environmental policies and procedures, ensuring quality standards are maintained on all projects.
Perform other related tasks as assigned to support project completion.
Qualifications:
Knowledge application of environmental legislation/regulations, especially stormwater compliance regulations and implementation.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, government agencies, and team members.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Expertise in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, GIS software, and mobile data collection tools.
Comfortable working in office and field settings, including challenging terrain and adverse environmental conditions.
Willingness to travel out-of-state, often on short notice, and work flexible hours as needed.
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure, with a strong sense of reliability and punctuality.
Physical Requirements:
Lifting: Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs.
Field Work: Capable of traversing challenging terrain and working long hours in varying environmental conditions.
Travel: Willingness to drive between site locations in remote areas.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Geography, GIS, Natural Resources, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of related work experience.
Must be a U.S. citizen with a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Experience:
Knowledge of electrical transmission and distribution line construction activities.
Planning and field experience on construction projects.
Basic experience with ESRI GIS Software (Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps) and Google Earth.
