Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces in common areas, offices, restrooms, and resident rooms.

Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in kitchens, laundry rooms, storage areas, and other facility spaces.

Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste in accordance with health and safety policies.

Restock cleaning and hygiene supplies as needed and report any low inventory to the Operations Manager.

Clean and disinfect high-touch areas regularly to reduce the risk of illness or infection.

Perform deep cleaning of assigned areas on a rotating schedule.

Ensure cleaning equipment is properly used, stored, and maintained.

Immediately report maintenance or safety issues (e.g., leaks, broken fixtures, or damaged flooring) to the appropriate supervisor.

Follow all safety procedures, including proper labeling and use of cleaning chemicals and PPE.

Support special projects or seasonal cleaning needs as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position may require working evenings and weekends to accommodate activity schedules and to ensure that company needs are met.

This position involves working in residential and program facilities where mental health services are provided. The technician will interact with staff and residents in a respectful, professional, and compassionate manner while maintaining confidentiality and upholding NAMI Central Georgia’s mission and values.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Frequent use of hands, wrists and fingers and lifting or moving up to 50 lbs. may be required

Movements such as stooping, crouching, bending, kneeling, climbing and reaching are required

Noise and/or level of distractions in the work environment is moderate

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance and peripheral vision

Have reliable transportation

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Age 21 or older with a high school diploma or GED

TB screening, Frist Aid/CPR

Non-Profit experience is a plus

Live within commuting distance of the NAMI facility, group home and duplex

Ability to multi-task

Possess strong decision making and problem-solving skills

Critical listening and thinking skills

Strong time management skills

Prior experience in environmental services, housekeeping, custodial, or janitorial work preferred but not required.

Knowledge of safe cleaning practices, including chemical handling and infection control, preferred

Strong attention to detail and reliability.

Ability to work overtime as needed

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Perform all other duties assigned
