What Success Looks Like In This Job

Under general supervision, the successful candidate will perform a full range of custodial duties related to the care, maintenance, and cleaning of County buildings. This position must work well independently and with teams while providing excellent and respectful customer service.

The hiring range for this position is: $20.71 - $23.82. The full hiring range for this position is: $20.71 - $28.99.

Examples of Duties for Success

  • Clean, polish, dust, and sanitize restrooms and locker rooms: including but not limited to mirrors, sinks, showers, urinals, and toilets. Replenish restroom supplies.
  • Sweep, scrub, mop, and polish hard floors throughout the building.
  • Vacuum and spot clean carpeted areas and dust baseboards throughout the building.
  • Dust furniture, fixtures, windowsills, countertops, and equipment throughout the building.
  • Clean and polish glass and metal surfaces throughout the building.
  • Spot clean walls.
  • Clean and polish the interior and exterior surfaces of elevators as well as vacuum floors.
  • Sweep and/or vacuum stairwells and disinfect handrails.
  • Empty trash and recycling from department appointed areas and transport appropriately to dumpsters or recycle compactor.
  • Clean and sanitize waste & recycling receptacles as needed.
  • Responds to emergency custodial needs.
  • Reports maintenance needs identified in the course of business to the maintenance staff.
  • May be asked to modify work schedule for business needs.
  • May be asked to travel to various County buildings to perform work.
  • May be asked to occasionally work overtime.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

More Qualifications for Success

  • Experience:

  • 6 Months commercial custodial experience - preferred

  • Education and Training:

  • Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

  • Must be able to understand and communicate in basic English.

  • License and/or certification

  • Valid Colorado Driver License - preferred

  • Background Check:

  • Must pass a criminal background check.

  • Candidates that are assigned to work at the detention facility, Sheriff's Office or secure area will be asked to undergo an additional intensive background process through the Adams County Sheriff's Office.

  • Other:

  • This position requires a moderate level of physical endurance including the ability to:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to push and/or pull objects up to 75 pounds

  • Ability to: bend, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach overhead, twist

  • Ability to climb using a step stool or ladder to reach overhead items

  • Environmental exposure

  • May be required to work in cold or hot temperatures

  • Exposure to various chemicals

  • Exposure to dust and other possible allergens

  • Break in Service Requirement - 13 weeks

Employees who work within the parameters below are eligible to participate in the the medical plan for the employee and child(ren) only as well as the 457b deferred compensation plan:

  • Duration - At least 3 months and up to 12 months
  • Weekly Hours - 30 or more
  • Break in Service Requirement - 13 weeks
