Job Description and Duties
The Department of Fish and Wildlifes Office of Spill Prevention and Response (OSPR) is seeking a motivated individual to work as an Environmental Scientist located in OSPRs West Sacramento office in Yolo County. Under close supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisor), the Environmental Scientist is responsible for providing environmental expertise in the designing, planning, and coordinating functions of the OSPRs Drills and Exercises program, which tests oil spill contingency plan holders ability to execute their plan. Working Conditions
This position is in an office environment and involves sitting most of the time, and the use of a computer and standard office equipment. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and be prepared to travel using a State vehicle. OSPR is a 24-hour oil and pollution spill response organization. The incumbent in this position will be required to participate in prevention and response training, drills, and incidents throughout California. Occasional travel is required within the state of California via private or public transportation (i.e., automobile, airplane, etc.). Travel may include overnight stay, up to 7 days.
