SUMMARY:

Coordinates programs designed to safeguard the hospital environment and persons on hospital property from exposure to hazardous materials and conditions. Assists with implementation and maintenance of programs to reduce or eliminate injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses. Maintains liaison with outside agencies including but not limited to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and federal, state, county or city regulatory offices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Exhibits excellence in customer service through appropriate attitude and interaction with all patients, visitors and staff.

Adheres to and supports team members in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication.

Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety and confidentiality policies and standards.

Maintains environmental compliance program ensuring all environmental laws and regulations in accordance with EPA, DOT, RCRA and Sara Title III and proper documentation is maintained.

Develops proper procedures for the management of the outside air pollutants in accordance with CAA, ADEQ and EPA requirements.

Implements worker safety and health programs to reduce the extent and severity of work-related injuries and illnesses and their related costs.

Inspects construction projects to ensure proper containment methods are maintained.

Anticipates, recognizes, evaluates, and controls workplace conditions that may cause workers'' injury or illness.

Uses, calibrates, and interprets data from environmental and compliance monitoring equipment.

Inspects, researches, or analyzes how specific chemicals or physical hazards in the workplace may impact worker health.

Implements emergency response plans for dealing with hazardous substances, spills, or other incidents involving chemicals.

Notifies proper authorities in case of an environmental release of a reportable quantify (RQ).

Oversees an environmental compliance program ensuring all environmental laws and regulations in accordance with EPA, DOT, RCRA and Sara Title III are followed and proper documentation is maintained.

Develops and implements safe, standardized and correct procedures for hazardous waste materials, controlling emissions, and wastewater management in accordance with applicable regulations.

Develops and/or assists with conducting training programs, to devise, supervise and coordinate training programs or media which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness.

Performs related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Associate's degree.

EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of environmental training experience.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: 40 hour HAZWOPER, 8 hour RCRA
