Overview:
Risk Management at Auburn University is excited to begin the search for an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist! This individual performs duties to include providing professional expertise in the operation of Auburn University environmental, safety and health programs to help ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, national consensus standards and the Auburn University Safety Policy. This job may specify responsibilities pertaining to professional competencies necessary for a more focused position specialization. This specialization is in Hazardous Materials.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and manages regulated waste management programs to include implementing safe, compliant hazardous materials and regulated waste operations and shipment of Dangerous Goods.
- May supervise EHS personnel performing regulated waste management activities.
- Provides technical guidance to the University community in relation to regulated waste to include RCRA hazardous waste, universal waste, regulated medical waste and pathological waste.
- Develops and manages waste management programs to prevent and correct non-compliance conditions.
- Designs, conducts and coordinates training and education in area of specialization.
Qualifications:
Degree in Environmental Science, Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Biological Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry or a related field
Level II
- High school diploma or equivalent + 10 years of experience OR
- Bachelor's degree + 2 years of experience OR
- Master's degree
Level III
- High school diploma or equivalent + 12 years of experience OR
- Bachelor's degree + 4 years of experience OR
- Master's degree + 2 years of experience
Scope of Experience: Experience in health and safety regulatory compliance enforcement
