Role:
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for supporting the M2X Director of Field Operations in the development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of company-wide EHS programs, to include Occupational Health & Safety Programs, Workers' Compensation, Claims & Injury Management Polices & Procedures, and Environmental Compliance Programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations across all M2X operations
The EHS Specialist will work closely with the Manufacturing Facility located in Rockledge, FL, Test & Commissioning Team, and Field Operations Team, as well as other M2X management and staff, contractors and vendors to promote a strong safety culture, reduce risk, maintain compliance, and support the safe operation of landfill gas conditioning, methanol production, chemical storage, transportation, and related industrial activities.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
- Conduct routine safety inspections and audits.
- Support OSHA compliance programs.
- Maintain safety policies, procedures, and training records.
- Assist with incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Track corrective actions to completion.
- Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) and risk assessments.
- Coordinate contractor safety programs.
- Support emergency response planning and drills.
- Develop and monitor safety performance metrics and trends.
Documentation, Reporting, and Administration Management
- Maintain EHS SharePoint, databases and other records.
- Generate weekly and monthly EHS performance reports.
- Support EHS management systems and audit readiness.
- Assist with corrective action tracking and compliance dashboards.
Training & Development
- Coordinate employee EHS training programs.
- Maintain training matrices and qualification records.
- Deliver safety orientations and refresher training; bilingual as necessary.
- Assist managers & supervisors in identifying other specific training needs.
Workers' Compensation, Claims & Injury Management
- Administer and coordinate all workers' compensation claims from initial injury reporting through claim closure.
- Serve as the primary liaison between employees, supervisors, insurance carriers, third-party administrators (TPAs), medical providers, and legal representatives.
- Ensure timely reporting of workplace injuries and illnesses in accordance with federal, state, and company policies/requirements.
- Coordinate post-injury medical treatment and monitor employee recovery progress.
- Manage return-to-work programs for safe and timely employee reintegration.
- Track injury and claim trends, costs, reserves, and performance metrics.
- Maintain OSHA injury and illness records, including OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 logs.
- Participate in claim review meetings with insurance carriers and brokers.
- Support litigation management and provide documentation related to claims.
- Identify opportunities to reduce workers' compensation costs through prevention initiatives and early intervention programs.
- Develop and maintain injury management procedures and employee reporting protocols.
Chemical & Process Safety
- Support safe handling, storage, and transportation of methanol and other hazardous materials.
- Verify proper labeling, SDS management, and hazard communication requirements.
- Assist with spill prevention and emergency preparedness programs.
Environmental Compliance
- Liaison with the Environmental Engineer and Director of Compliance (as directed) regarding applicable EPA, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Assist in the tracking of air permits, stormwater, SPCC, hazardous waste, wastewater, and chemical management programs.
- Conduct environmental inspections and audits.
- Maintain environmental permits, records, and compliance documentation.
- Track waste generation, disposal activities, and recycling programs.
- Assist with environmental reporting and regulatory submissions.

Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering Technology, or related field; 5+ years of equivalent experience considered.
- 4+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, energy, chemical processing, landfill gas, wastewater, or related industries.
- Experience conducting injury investigations and root cause analyses.
- Knowledge of initial injury response, protocols, and injury management.
- Experience working with insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation regulations and return-to-work programs.
- Familiar with OSHA recordkeeping requirements and injury management systems.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30-Hour "General Industry" Certification.
- OSHA 30-Hour "Construction Industry" Certification.
- HAZWOPER 24 or 40 Hour Certification.
- Hazardous Waste Management (RCRA) Management
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.

Salary Range: $60,000 – 70,000 based on experience
