Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000

Position Summary
Working in Temple University's Environmental Health & Radiation Safety (EHRS) department, and under the general supervision of a designated supervisor, the Environmental Health & Safety Program Manager leads in the development and administration of EHRS-led environmental programs and projects. Key program responsibilities include managing the university's requirements for storage tanks (UST/AST), Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC), Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA), Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA), and regulated waste (chemical/biological) for all university campuses. Additionally, the EHS Program Manager assists the department in long-term planning activities, analyzes data, engages in university outreach and monitoring, and reports on compliance with regulatory agency permits and agreements. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or technology, environmental studies, environmental health and safety, chemistry, or a related field of science.
* At least three (3) years' experience as an environmental manager, program specialist, program manager, project manager, or similar responsibility.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities
* Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite programs.
* Strong oral and written communication skills, including excellent listening skills.
* Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
* Must be able to move freely in small and large spaces, lift heavy objects over twenty-five lbs. and wear respiratory protective devices.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Demonstrated ability to prioritize well and focus on the completion of tasks while under the stress of a demanding work schedule.
* Must have a valid US driver's license or ability to obtain one.

Essential Duties
* Manage various EHRS-related programs as assigned. Duties include day-to-day oversight of selected programs, including recommending and developing program policies, corresponding manuals and guidance documentation.
* Routinely assess program metrics to identify new performance goals and training opportunities.
* Coordinates select vendors day-to-day operations and act as primary department contact for these vendors.
* Plans, organizes, oversees, and directs some or all aspects of assigned programs or projects, including legal and regulatory compliance; coordinates with University stakeholders and governmental agencies regarding the programs or projects as needed.
* Responsible for interpreting environmental health and safety regulations and policies and for recommending new and improved programs to effectively manage these regulations and policies.
* Conducts documented compliance audits and produces audit reports with corrective actions as assigned.
* Conducts investigations and submits written reports and documentation on incidents and complaints involving EHRS matters. Selects and implements proper corrective actions.
* Provides consultation to the University and Health System community regarding appropriate procedures, controls, codes, regulation, policies, and contracts involving environmental programs, hazardous materials, or safety related issues.
