Overview
This person must possess broad knowledge and experience in all aspects of chemical health and safety, workplace safety standards, environmental compliance, and industrial hygiene to serve as the technical expert and program manager for the environmental health and safety programs, including chemical hygiene and hazard communications.

Responsibilities
Environmental Health and Compliance responsibilities:
Ensure environmental compliance across utility systems, waste management, emissions, water treatment, and energy systems.
Ensure compliance with permitting - including air, water, waste, energy, and building system requirements - and lead responses to audits, inspections, and enforcement actions.
Act as liaison with college and external offices to maintain the College''s regulatory environmental compliance.
Maintain compliance with DEP's air quality permitting requirements.
Develop site surveys and databases of all emitting devices, sites, and sub-sites that have the potential to emit Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) or Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAP).
Develop and administrate cleanup of any VOC or HAP Agents at this site and all sub-sites, making sure proper documentation and disposal are conducted under current Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.
Maintain the College''s air quality permits up to date.
Ensure annual submission of AMES report is completed and submitted by March 1 of each year.
Maintain main campus generator run times for annual reporting.
Maintain compliance with DEP's safe drinking water program.
Maintain proper documentation for drinking water wells.
Coordinate with private lab vendors, water operations, and the DEP.
Ensure sampling and reporting is occurring in compliance with PWSID 4410949.
Maintain water resource program compliance.
Maintain compliance with MS4 program.
Maintain and report SRBC docket 2025-176 consumptive use readings.
Maintain water meter calibration in accordance with SRBC guidelines.
Coordinate hazardous material spill response and recovery.
Chemical Hygiene Officer responsibilities:
Safety Officer responsibilities:
Provide mandated staff development activities in coordination with the Office of People and Culture.
Right-to-Know training.
Specialized equipment operator training (forklift, personnel lifts, etc).
Routine workplace safety training.
Ensure workplace compliance with OSHA, DLI, or local regulations as required.
Perform periodic workplace safety compliance inspections and job hazard analyses, and provide recommendations.
Maintain and distribute primary SDS sheets for hazardous materials.
Coordinate with General Services leadership to provide toolbox talks, safety briefs, and other awareness tools to be used as weekly training topics.
Track workplace injuries and ensure appropriate controls are in place to mitigate further injuries.
Participate in routinely scheduled safety committee building tours with property and risk insurance representatives.
Manage and maintain all data and inspection reporting required for compliance.
Create, administer, and maintain environmental compliance and standard operating procedures for hazardous materials management.
Provide technical expertise and support on occupational safety issues, including regulations, control methods, and best practices.
Provide rapid response for hazardous situations.
Maintain inspection and compliance records for life safety equipment (harnesses, fire pumps, fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, etc.).
Monitor and supervise all campus department representatives to ensure compliance with established procedures and job duties.

Pay Transparency
Based on minimum education and experience qualifications the yearly salary range is $75,000 - $85,000.
