Essential Functions:

  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal environmental laws and regulations in addition to corporate environmental policies.
  • Track and interpret laws or regulations impacting the business and offers suggestions to functional managers seeking to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor and evaluate operations for adherence to environmental laws, rules, and permit conditions, with primary focus on Clean Air Act and air quality regulations.
  • Collect and analyzes environmental samples, interprets findings, and recommends and implements corrective action as needed.
  • Gather input of alleged compliance violations and escalates to executive leadership.
  • Gather information in support of environmental permit applications and regulatory reports required by the various regulatory programs.
  • Lead end-to-end project planning and execution, including scope development, scheduling, resource coordination, and vendor management for compliance related projected.
  • Conduct periodic reviews or audits of environmental program data, trends, and processes. Identifies potential areas of non-compliance, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement. Reports findings to management and recommends corrective action as needed.
  • Conduct internal onsite audits of environmental compliance programs, including Title V and State of Alaska air compliance programs. Documents findings, develop corrective action plans, and oversee implementation.
  • Develop written reports and communications to regulators. Provide technical support in company negotiations with regulators.
  • Assist field staff and management to prevent releases of pollutants and environmental incidents by investigating, identifying causes, and developing preventative measures and practices.
  • Mitigate risk exposure by identifying sources of risk and developing needed programs, policies, and procedures. Avoids legal challenges by working collaboratively to understand the impact of current and proposed legislation.
  • Ensure internal and external stakeholder satisfaction by recommending best practices. Drive, implement, sustain, and develop quality process improvements that focus on operations and customer service.

Compensation & Benefits:

This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $82,000 to $123,000.

Minimum Requirements 

Travel/On-Call Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to remote Alaska, up to 25%.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of related experience (Title V or state air permit experience preferred).
  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, or the equivalent combination of education and years of experience.
  • Possesses working knowledge of environmental regulations including but not limited to Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA, and SPCC
  • Current training certifications or ability to obtain certifications as necessary for specific job tasks within 6 months of hire date, including but not limited to HAZWOPER, DOT HazMat, Spill Response, Storm Water, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to travel to remote Alaska, up to 25%.

  • Strong collaboration, analytical, influential, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Must be results-oriented with the ability to drive continuous improvement within the department as well as the overall organization
  • Ability to persuasively communicate with all levels of management and team members at various locations. Strong training, reporting, data analyzing, and presentation skills.

Work Environment:

This is an on-site position based at the Trident Support Center office in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood, with the option to work remotely on Fridays. In-office time takes place in a typical office environment: temperature controlled with adequate lighting and moderate noise. While remote, employees must provide appropriate home office space.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
