POSITION TITLE: Enrollment Specialist for Undergraduate and Graduate Student Athletes

GENERAL JOB FUNCTION
This positions primary responsibility is to represent the University to potential student athletes and their families by assisting with their enrollment-related questions. The ideal candidate will share the admissions process with secondary school counselors, post-secondary institutions and their respective officials, and the community at large. The main emphasis of this position is to build relationships with prospective Cumberland University students by helping them navigate the admissions process from interest to enrollment.
STANDARD EXPECTATIONS
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Possess an understanding of, and a commitment to, the University Mission and Vision as well as the goals and objectives of Enrollment Services.
Represent the University at College Fairs for high school students, private visits to high schools, other recruiting events aimed at high school students and at Community College transfer events.
This position will primarily represent Cumberland University to potential student athletes; but may be asked to occasionally cover events outside of their normal territory or attend training in other areas of the state.
Maintain and enter prospect data into the CRM (Slate) and student information systems in a timely manner.
Communicate regularly and effectively with Athletics and Coaching staff to identify and track potential student athletes through the recruitment process.
Establish and maintain a professional, friendly relationship with representatives at high schools and community colleges.
Provide counseling to prospective students and their parents regarding the University, academic offerings, and financial aid options.
Conduct follow-up communications with leads and applicants via letters, telephone calls, text messages, on- and off-campus visits, electronic and social networking mediums etc.
Assist applicants through the application process and track their progress to ensure that all required documents are submitted to the University for Final Acceptance.
Conduct campus tours for prospective students, their families, and visitors to the University.
Participate in special functions for prospective students and applicants, such as Athletic recruiting events, Fine Arts recruiting events, Discovery Days, Open House Days, Freshmen Registration, Orientation, etc.
Provide regular reports on contacts to prospects and applicants, visits to schools, and campus visits, as requested.
Assist University staff in recruitment of prospective students to their program and/or initiative as requested by supervisors.
Perform other duties/tasks as may be assigned as requested by supervisors.
Participate in and complete a Performance Management Process, following the guidelines set forth by the University.
DECISION MAKING AND MANAGEMENT
The ideal candidate for this position will make decisions and establish work priorities based on an essentially procedure-oriented basis with limited supervision after training. The candidate will carry out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision.
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required: Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of one (1) year of work experience in a related field; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by the Vice President of Enrollment Services.
Preferred: Completed Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, or related field of study with two (2) years of work experience in a related field; ability to converse in multiple languages, preferably English and Spanish.
