PARAPROFESSIONAL - Woodland Park Elementary School

SCSD2 is seeking a positive, professional and motivated paraprofessional to work with Woodland Park Elementary students at the start of the 2026/2027 school year. This position will work 4.5 hours per day with an opportunity to work additional hours in our After School Program 2.5 hours Monday-Thursday.

This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance and will contribute to the Wyoming Retirement System Employee Pension. Work days will occur on days that school is in session with students.

  • 3 hours for EL (Monday-Friday)
  • 1.5 hours for General Para (Monday-Friday)
  • 2.5 Hours After school program Para ( 2:45-5:15 Monday-Thursday)
  • Hours for this position are driven by student need and may be subject to change if student needs change.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School graduate or equivalent.

  2. Good command of the English language.

  3. Ability to work well with students and staff.

  4. Working knowledge and competence in reading, math, English, and related academic subjects.

  5. Typing and computer skills preferred.

STARTING WAGE: $17.97-$20.97, depending on experience. ($1.00 increase for BA or BS)

REPORTS TO: Building principal and/or classroom teacher

JOB GOAL: To assist the teaching staff in supporting the learning programs for students in their designated educational environment.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
  • Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
  • Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
  • Keeps bulletin board and other classroom learning displays up-to-date.
  • Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
  • Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
  • Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work, as assigned by the teacher.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information concerning school matters.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employment relationship with the District is at will and of indefinite duration. Salary and fringe benefits to be set by the Board of Trustees.

Placement on any of the Classified (Hourly) Wage Schedules for all new employees will be based solely on an individual's years of job-related experience:

  • School district experience (full time) = One (1) year of job-related experience equals one (1) step on the wage schedule, up to step seven (7)
  • School district experience (substitute) & non-school district experience = three (3) years of job-related experience equals one (1) step on the wage schedule, up to step seven (7)
  • placement beyond step seven (7) requires approval from the Superintendent

Upon board approval, eligible staff move one (1) step on the wage schedule annually, except in those years when the Board of Trustees sets a wage freeze due to budget constraints. Idividuals that start in their position after the start of second semester will not be eligible for a step increase the following school year.
