THIS IS A TEMPORARY HOURLY AS NEEDED POSITION WITHOUT PERMANENT STATUS. This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time temporary hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview.
Minimum Qualifications
A. The minimum of one of the following awarded/conferred from a regionally accredited institution: • A bachelors degree in teaching English as a second language or teaching English to speakers of other languages • A bachelors degree in education, English linguistics, applied linguistics, any foreign language, composition, bilingual/bicultural studies, reading, or speech • A certificate in teaching English as a second language, which may be completed concurrently during the first year of employment as a noncredit instructor
B. A bachelors degree with any of the majors specified in subparagraph 2 above and one year of experience teaching ESL in an accredited institution and a certificate in teaching English as a second language, which may be completed concurrently during the first two years of employment as a noncredit instructor
C. Possession of a full-time clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in ESL
D. The equivalent must request an equivalency review in the application
E. California Community College credential Valid for Life (no longer issued authorizing service as an instructor in the appropriate discipline, refer to Ed Code § 87355)

Working Environment
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Teach noncredit ESL courses that prepare students for college and career pathways ranging from literacy to high intermediate levels. Courses may include integrated skills such as reading, writing, speaking, and pronunciation.
Maintain pedagogical currency in the field of second language acquisition in order to meet the needs and support the learning goals of noncredit ESL learners.
Instruct and assist in the growth and success of noncredit ESL students through careful preparation of course materials, following established course outlines, effective teaching methods, and informed critical feedback on assignments.
Perform related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities and college division and department policies.

Selection Procedure
A committee will evaluate applications taking into account breadth and depth of relevant education, training, experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities, and other job-related criteria as listed in the job posting. Interviews may include a writing sample, presentation, teaching demonstration, and/or performance test.
Conditions of Employment
The person holding this position is required to be present on Mt. San Antonio Colleges campus to perform all essential duties and responsibilities.
