Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Engineering Technician to support a production level project at our client’s facility in Sterling, VA. They will work alongside scientists and engineers to assist in the manufacturing of new products in the field of advanced materials for commercial and Department of Defense applications. This position reports to the Production Manager and will be responsible for powder handling and consolidation efforts. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in a role requiring meticulous attention to detail and reporting, as well as an unwavering commitment to safety.
Description:
- Support production operations by working alongside engineers and welders to perform powder handling and assembly operations
- Assist in material preparation for packing and welding operations
- Assist the welder with crimping operations
- Communicate effectively with engineering and management to ensure consistent and accurate flow of information for scheduling and delivery
- Accurately document process information and data in FactoryLogix
- Follow work instructions and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with our quality system
- Practice safe operation procedures at all times
- Conduct regular maintenance and cleanouts of equipment and machinery, such as augers and kilns, to ensure safe and proper operation; training provided
- Performance of job responsibilities will involve exposure to hazards that include steel powder handling, handling acetone, and welding operations
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 18 years of age or more
- Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance; U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite
- 2 years of hands-on experience in a related position
- A strong willingness to learn new skills
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to work with computers and operating software
- Willingness and ability to work outside of standard operation to support other areas when needed
Preferred:
- Experience with FactoryLogix or similar manufacturing execution system software
- Experience working with fine metal powders
- Experience using powder handling equipment
