Engineering Technician, Chemical Operator, Cell Prototyping

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated engineering technician who will play a crucial role in the development, operation, and maintenance of an advanced electrode and cell development pilot line.

Battery Cells are the common denominator for every Tesla product. Our product requirements demand ground-up cell architectures with state-of-the-art performance, manufactured at volumes that are orders of magnitude higher than the products they power. • Operate and monitor pilot scale electrode equipment such as mixer, coater, press, or slitter
• Carefully document critical build process parameters and quality control metrics, and perform analysis and build QC as needed
• Assist in the optimization of process parameters to improve performance, quality and yield
• Perform regular equipment inspections before and after running the equipment; work closely with equipment team on trouble shooting and maintenance
• Document and keep track of hazardous material inventory
• Experience working in hazardous areas and handling chemicals
• Experience operating manufacturing or pilot-scale equipment is a plus
• Careful attention to detail and ability to clearly communicate results and challenges to engineering team
• Experience with slurry mixing, roll-to-roll coating/pressing/slitting is a plus
• Physical requirement: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
• This position is primarily a day shift role; however, candidates must have the flexibility to work various schedules, including days, nights, or weekends, to accommodate operational shift needs

Expected Compensation

$24.40 - $65.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
