JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The Engineering Support Representative II will support Engineering design processes that meet construction and installation requirements; includes processing, monitoring, filing/archiving, researching, and reporting for permits, lane closures, standard Traffic Control Plans, restoration/paving repairs, and various other state, city, and local permits. Manage and create internal and external-facing platforms to streamline support processes and maintain access and permissions. Collaborate with other Engineering personnel to manage new projects in support of Engineering tasks. Develop and maintain relationships with permitting entities to sustain understanding of franchise agreements and requirements for obtaining permits. Works under the supervision and direction of a Lead, Supervisor, and/or Manager.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Monitor, administrate, and control access to Engineering Support SharePoint sites
- Provide guidance on maintenance and editing of existing Gas Engineering SharePoint sites as needed
- Lead team development of new SharePoint sites and/or dashboard sites as required
- Instruct the team to serve as liaison to local government permitting authorities
- Maintain a basic understanding of how franchise agreements work by researching agreements to stay current on new information and storage location of the agreements
- Responsible for the correct application for Right of Way permits from state and local government entities (cities, counties, rail, and flood control) for gas engineering, construction, and maintenance projects and follow up on requested permits until approved. Track permits through lifecycle from request to application, receipt, and completion or expiration. Communicate permit statuses to requestors when milestones are reached
- Manage the pre-construction notifications of the intent to start construction projects to state agencies and other entities as required
- Lead interaction with entities about franchise agreements. Must research and interpret the agreements
- Assists with Work Order creation as required
- Facilitate the coordination of gas supply company pipeline shutdowns between Gas Supply, Gas Engineering staff, supply company staff, and Gas Control
- Use Microsoft 365, Oracle, and ArcGIS software to support Gas Engineering
- Requires some advanced knowledge and utilization of Microsoft Office suite products
- Manage special projects in support of the engineering department
- Train and mentor less experienced staff to perform duties listed above
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
- Requires a high school education or the equivalent knowledge of English, basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculation of fractions and/or percentages), grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Minimum experience required of the position
- Engineering Support Representative II - requires minimum of 2 years of experience in a related engineering or construction discipline conducting similar tasks as outlined in this job description. Will also consider 2 years development experience in creating new SharePoint sites and/or dashboard.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

- Able to exert in excess of 30 pounds of force occasionally and in excess of 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
- Able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Able to operate a motor vehicle and drive a motor vehicle for multiple hour trips.
