Engineering Supervisor (PE)

We"re seeking an experienced Engineering Supervisor (PE) to lead a talented distribution design team supporting utility and power infrastructure projects. What You"ll Do

Lead & Develop High-Performing Teams

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers, designers, and team leads engaged in utility distribution design projects.
  • Mentor and develop team members through coaching, training, and professional development initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Support employee growth through performance evaluations, career development planning, and regular feedback.
  • Lead recruiting, hiring, workforce planning, and team-building efforts.

Drive Project Success

  • Oversee multiple engineering and design projects from initiation through completion.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with customer requirements and quality standards.
  • Develop, review, and communicate project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Monitor project performance and proactively address risks, resource constraints, and schedule challenges.
  • Manage change orders and scope modifications to maintain project profitability and customer satisfaction.

Serve as a Trusted Customer Partner

  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers on operational and project-related matters.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with utility clients and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand business needs and develop effective project solutions.
  • Resolve issues related to project execution, staffing, invoicing, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Facilitate productive communication between customers, project teams, and company leadership.

Ensure Engineering Excellence

  • Establish and maintain quality control standards for engineering deliverables and design services.
  • Review project plans, drawings, and technical documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide expert guidance on utility distribution systems, electrical infrastructure, and engineering best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance workflows, processes, and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and present technical and operational reports to customers and leadership.

Manage Resources & Operations

  • Allocate work across teams to maximize efficiency and workload balance.
  • Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
  • Coordinate staffing and resource planning to meet project demands.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office and customer-specific software to manage reporting, project tracking, and communication.
  • Drive operational excellence within the department while supporting long-term business growth initiatives.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor"s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related ABET-accredited discipline.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or the ability and commitment to obtain one within an agreed-upon timeframe.

  • 10+ years of experience managing utility, power distribution, or engineering design projects.

  • 4+ years of leadership experience managing engineers, designers, or technical teams.

  • Strong knowledge of:

  • Utility distribution systems

  • Power distribution design

  • Electrical infrastructure

  • Underground utility design

  • Transformers and related utility equipment

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and blueprint interpretation.

  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and client relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading large-scale utility engineering programs.
  • Strong understanding of project financial management and forecasting.
  • Experience implementing process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD and design software platforms.
  • Proven success building and developing high-performing technical teams.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Portland, Oregon.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $84.13 - $84.13/hr.
