    Description

    We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Engineering Manager to lead a closed die forging engineering department. In this critical role, you will oversee a team of engineers, providing technical guidance, managing projects, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize forging processes and tooling design. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of impression die hot forging, expertise in simulation software like DEFORM, and a proven track record of leadership and problem-solving.

    POSITION IS LOCATED IN DETROIT, MI - $25K RELOCATION PACKAGE AVAILABLE

    Responsibilities:

    • Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
    • Delegate tasks effectively, manage work schedules, and conduct performance evaluations.
    • Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members on forging processes, tooling design, and problem resolution.
    • Process Optimization: Analyze production activities, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
    • Evaluate and optimize existing forging processes and tooling designs to reduce costs and improve product quality.
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, applying lean manufacturing principles and best practices.
    • Tooling Design & Simulation: Oversee the design, development, and implementation of new forging and support tooling.
    • Utilize DEFORM and other simulation software to analyze material flow, predict potential issues, and optimize tooling performance.
    • Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement corrective actions to ensure production efficiency and product quality.
    • Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, purchasing, and sales.
    • Work closely with vendors and suppliers to manage service contracts and ensure timely procurement of materials and equipment.
    • Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to communicate project updates, analysis findings, and improvement recommendations.


    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, or Manufacturing preferred) or equivalent experience.
    • Experience: 7+ years of experience in a similar engineering management role within a closed die forging environment.
    • Technical Skills: Extensive knowledge of impression die hot forging processes, materials, and tooling.
    • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and DEFORM simulation software.
    • Experience with toolpath generation, flow simulation, and surfacing software is a plus.
    • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
    • Leadership & Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing engineering teams.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
    • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.

    • $170,000 to $200,000 base salary
