Engineering Manager, Integrations (Player/Coach)
Location: Remote
Compensation: $200,000 - $350,000
About Our Client
Our client builds a data activation platform that helps companies sync data from their sources into the tools that run their business—CRMs, ad platforms, analytics tools, warehouses, and more. At the center of the product is a large and growing ecosystem of 300+ destination integrations that every customer depends on, from early adopters to teams running tens of thousands of syncs per day at scale.
They operate with high ownership and autonomy: engineers ship quickly, work directly with customers and partners, and build solutions end-to-end.
The Role
Our client is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the team responsible for their destination integrations. This is a player/coach role blending people leadership with hands-on engineering. You’ll lead by example, raise the bar for technical execution, and ensure the team consistently delivers the highest-value work for customers.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building systems that sit at the intersection of APIs, data movement, performance constraints, reliability, and customer-driven iteration.
What You’ll Work On
1) Managing and Scaling 300+ Integrations
- Own prioritization across a constant stream of requests: new destinations, deeper functionality, and partner-driven needs
- Balance short-term deal enablement with long-term platform strategy and engineering improvements
- Improve the developer experience for building and maintaining integrations at high velocity
2) Sync Speed and Reliability at Scale
- Optimize data sync performance across a wide range of destination types (HTTP APIs, file transfers, data warehouses)
- Engineer for rate limits and destination-specific constraints using parallelism, batching, retry/backoff, and algorithmic improvements
- Improve observability, resiliency, and correctness to keep syncs reliable as customers scale
3) AI-Enabled Developer Productivity
- Explore how AI can help the team ship faster and with higher quality (coding assistants, automated testing, tooling, and workflow improvements)
- Establish practical practices that increase velocity without sacrificing reliability
What You’ll Do
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers—raising performance through coaching and clear expectations
- Stay hands-on: contribute to design, reviews, and implementation where it creates leverage
- Drive prioritization and execution: keep the team focused on high-impact deliverables tied to customer outcomes
- Partner cross-functionally with customer-facing teams and external integration partners to unblock use cases quickly
- Set and maintain engineering standards for code quality, reliability, and operational excellence
- Build a culture of ownership, curiosity, and continuous improvement
What Our Client Is Looking For
You’ll be a strong fit if you:
- Are motivated by delivering customer value quickly—and can guide a team to do the same
- Enjoy mentoring and developing engineers, especially newer engineers
- Want a blend of hands-on development with people leadership
- Reason from first principles, stay curious, and seek ground truth in ambiguous problems
- Form clear opinions and communicate them with clarity
- Care deeply about quality, reliability, and shipping velocity
Bonus: Experience building and scaling a platform with hundreds of API integrations.
Why This Role
- Own a mission-critical surface area: integrations that power every customer’s value
- Work in a high-ownership environment where shipping fast is normal
- Solve hard engineering problems: performance, rate limits, reliability, and ever-changing third-party APIs
- Influence both the technical direction and the team’s growth trajectory
