Work Schedule:

• Hybrid role with 1–2 days/week onsite (typically Tuesday and/or Wednesday).
• Onsite requirements may increase based on business needs and could extend up to 5 days/week.

Job Summary

We are seeking an Engineer – Transport II to design, engineer, and deploy optical transport solutions supporting a global transport network. This role focuses on Metro Access transport engineering and requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver network infrastructure projects while ensuring engineering accuracy, timely deployment, and adherence to operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and deploy optical transport solutions for Metro Access networks.
• Collaborate with planning, provisioning, standards, sales, and equipment vendors to develop network solutions.
• Coordinate with field operations and implementation teams to gather site information, including space, power, and fiber availability.
• Create installation specifications (ISPECs), engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Develop Bills of Material (BOMs) and order required network equipment, racks, hardware, and cables.
• Define cable requirements and prepare cable running lists.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date engineering documentation.
• Ensure compliance with engineering, planning, financial, and operational standards.
• Manage project deployments to meet business goals and project timelines.
• Identify, track, and resolve project risks and issues through corrective action plans.
• Update project tracking tools with milestones, issues, action plans, and completion status.
• Communicate project progress effectively with stakeholders, management, and cross-functional teams.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of relevant telecommunications or transport engineering experience.
• Experience with optical transport technologies such as:
  • Tellabs 7100
  • Fuji 9500
  • Fuji CDS
  • Fuji 4100
  • ROADM
• Experience performing detailed engineering and preparing technical documentation.
• Strong understanding of Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) facilities.
• Experience installing telecommunications equipment.
• Experience using CAD-based design software.
• Familiarity with systems such as:
  • FIM
  • ICON
  • TCOMS
  • COFFEE
  • CCP
  • SRM/nSAP
• Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs & Sheets).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer-focused mindset with strong project coordination skills.
