About the Role
We are seeking a Contract Engineer to support the rapid design and fielding of temporary and modular structures. This role will work closely with internal stakeholders, site teams, and vendors to gather requirements, create layouts, and develop design packages that can be used for fabrication and construction.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in construction, infrastructure, logistics, structural, civil, or mechanical design and is comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where requirements may change quickly.
 
What You’ll Do

  • Gather and clarify structural, functional, storage, and site requirements from stakeholders
  • Translate requirements into layouts, CAD drawings, and 3D models
  • Plan building layouts, including HVAC considerations, placement, capacity, and storage constraints
  • Create vendor-ready design packages for fabrication and construction
  • Support design of temporary structures, modular buildings, tent structures, or field installations
  • Ensure designs align with applicable codes, safety standards, site conditions, and environmental constraints
  • Coordinate with vendors during fabrication to resolve RFIs and design questions
  • Incorporate engineering changes and design revisions quickly
  • Maintain revision-controlled drawings and document key design decisions
  • Support design reviews and answer technical questions in the field
  • Work with internal engineering teams that will handle formal drawing stamps/approvals
 
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of structural, civil, mechanical, construction, or infrastructure design experience
  • Experience creating fabrication-ready or vendor-ready design packages
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, BIM, 3D modeling, or similar design tools
  • Experience gathering requirements from stakeholders and translating them into practical designs
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities and deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with vendors, field teams, and internal stakeholders
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5–6+ years of relevant engineering/design experience
  • Experience with temporary structures, modular structures, tent structures, or field-deployed installations
  • Familiarity with anchorage, foundations, environmental loads, wind loads, and site-specific constraints
  • Experience supporting construction, infrastructure, logistics, warehousing, storage, or field operations
  • Experience resolving RFIs, design clarifications, and fabrication/construction issues
  • Ability to support fast design iterations and engineering change updates
     
    Candidates must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
