Position Summary

The Acoustics Engineer is responsible for the design, development, tuning, and validation of professional loudspeaker systems. Working within cross-functional product development teams, this role contributes acoustic expertise throughout the product lifecycle, from concept through production launch. The engineer supports the achievement of performance, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and schedule objectives while helping maintain JBL Professional's reputation for acoustic excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, tune, and validate professional loudspeaker systems.
  • Establish acoustic performance targets and support product requirements development.
  • Perform acoustic simulation, measurement, analysis, and optimization.
  • Design and evaluate loudspeaker enclosures, system alignments, and acoustic architectures.
  • Support crossover development, DSP tuning, voicing, and system optimization.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Test & Validation teams.
  • Support prototype builds, design reviews, validation activities, and production readiness.
  • Analyze technical issues and drive effective engineering solutions.
  • Document designs, test results, and engineering recommendations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of acoustic tools, methodologies, and development processes.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Acoustical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline.
  • 5-10 years of professional loudspeaker or electroacoustic product development experience.
  • Strong understanding of loudspeaker acoustics, system design, measurements, and signal processing.
  • Experience with acoustic simulation, measurement, and analysis tools.
  • Experience developing products from concept through production.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications Preferred

  • Master's degree in Acoustics or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience with professional audio, installed sound, or touring sound products.
  • Knowledge of DSP tuning, system optimization, and electroacoustic measurements.
  • Experience with Klippel, SoundCheck, APx, LEAP, COMSOL, MATLAB, Vituix or similar engineering tools.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and product validation methods.

  • Effective collaboration across product development teams.
  • Continuous improvement of engineering tools and methodologies.

Salary Ranges:

$ 97,500 - $ 143,000
