Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field. Two years of engineering experience are required. A State of Florida Professional Engineer license; or Bachelors degree in Engineering Technology awarded or having been enrolled prior to July 1, 1979 and proof of having passed the fundamentals test for the State of Florida Professional Engineer license may substitute for the required education.

Recruitment Notes

This position conducts technical reviews of contamination cleanup/aquifer restoration projects (i.e., assessment reports, pilot tests and remedial action plans and reports, and operation and maintenance reports) including, but is not limited to, evaluating hydro geological characteristics of the aquifer, evaluating soil, groundwater, sediment and vapor data to establish the degree and extent of contamination or vapor intrusion concerns, reviewing design calculations and construction specifications pertaining to remedial alternatives to address contaminated soil, groundwater and vapor intrusion in buildings, evaluating performance data of vapor management systems and other operating systems addressing soil and groundwater contamination. Projects requiring review are subject to the provisions of Chapter 62-780, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.), (under contract with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP)), Chapter 24, Miami - Dade County Code.

This position also conducts technical review of development projects at contaminated sites, including, but not limited to, construction plans, drainage plans, contaminated soil management plans, and dewatering proposal to ensure compliance with the provision of Chapter 24 of the Code. Additional duties involve participating in technical meetings in reference to assessment and remediation activities at contaminated sites and participating in public and educational training regarding technical and departmental policies.
