Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for a degreed Engineer to fill a hybrid contract position in Atlanta, Georgia. EIT certification is desirable. 


JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Assists in the planning, design, and development of technical standards for gas distribution infrastructure projects.
  • The right candidate must be a self-starter, excellent communicator, critical thinker and able to make sound decisions.
  • The Engineer 1 position requires 1-5 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree.
  • Responsible for applying engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to design and construct power related systems.
  • Supports estimate preparation, develops design options, and prepares construction specifications.
  • Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Creating a safe work environment by putting safety first, understand the process used for planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance
  • Understanding the functions and activities of various internal departments involved in design, construction, and maintenance
  • Understanding design practices and work processes, using all software applications used in design
  • Understanding industry and Company design standards, supporting design standard and criteria development for the system
  • Supporting construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations, estimating material for projects, transmitting construction packages and supporting specifications.
  • Steel Toe Shoes are required. JSG will furnish all other required PPE.
  • Successful candidates will visit active construction sites to coordinate projects, advise personnel and for learning opportunities


SKILLSETS and EXPERTISE
 
  • Introductory engineering knowledge,
  • Basic problem-solving skills
  • Limited discretion making independent decisions based on procedure and review with supervisor,
  • Basic discipline software knowledge
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.
  • Project Management
  • Ability to communicate with all levels in the organization
  • Computer Assisted Design/Geographic Information System - basic proficiency
  • MS Office - advanced proficiency
  • CAD/GIS - intermediate proficiency

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
 
  • BA/BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil or General)
  • 1-3 years of progressive Engineering experience
 Or Equivalent academic education and experience


Certifications/Licenses:

Preferred: Engineer in Training (E.I.T.)


TYPICAL DAY DESCRIPTION
 
  • Working on gas storage or gas fueling station assignments
  • Performing assignments involving the design of components or functionality of pipeline products
  •  Involved in the planning and design of mechanical equipment and components involving maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  •  Performing system balances to determine the best overall solution to solve system issues or identify system low points and methods to best solve them.
  • Provide oversight and support for construction activities

  This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.
