Pay Grade: 114

Annual Salary Range: $76,800 - $113,200

DESCRIPTION

Supervises clean energy, electrification and energy efficiency projects and programming. Oversees contracts and agreements for renewable energy projects on City properties. Works with Facilities Maintenance staff, consultants, and local utilities to reduce energy use in city buildings and develop programs or policies that the Citys Community Carbon Neutrality goals.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, implement, and manage energy programs and policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and advance the Citys renewable energy and carbon neutrality goals.
  • Collaborate with regional and state stakeholders and partners to advance energy policies and programs that increase renewable energy options and lower household energy burdens.
  • Oversee energy related capital improvement program funds and operating budgets; manages renewable energy projects on City properties; and administers federal, state, and private funding and/or grants for energy related programs and projects.
  • Collaborates with Facilities Maintenance staff, consultants, and local utilities to reduce energy use in City buildings and facilities through audits, retrofits, and upgrades to lighting, HVAC and controls.
  • Coordinates the installation and maintenance of public electric vehicle charging infrastructure
  • Presents renewable energy program updates to the City Council and the Sustainability and Resilience Commission. Coordinates with sustainability staff on capital budgets and capital improvement projects.
  • Supervise assigned employees including selection, training, coaching and performance management.
  • Manages data and annual reporting of greenhouse gases emissions inventories to Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).
  • May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

Four (4) years of experience in clean energy, energy efficiency, utility program administration, green construction codes or projects, program / policy development, or related experience.

Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicants full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.

Education:

Bachelors degree in Engineering, Sustainability, Urban Planning, Public Administration or Public Policy, Environmental Science or related field.

The term equivalent means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal one-year increments for college-level education (2 additional years for an associate degree and 4 additional years for a bachelors degree).

Professional Licensures and Certifications

  • Valid drivers license required.
  • International Code Council (ICC) Building Plans Examiner (B3) Certification is preferred.
  • American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE 90.1) is preferred.
