ENERGY AND CONTROLS SPECIALIST - LEVEL 1 Maintenance Classified Job Number: 2300289909 Start Date: 10222025 Open Date: 10222025 Closing Date: The duties include but are not limited to:
Under general supervision assists in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and general servicing of the MCPSS Networked Building Automation Systems (NBAS) corresponding to work orders generated from the MCPSS computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Completes all documentation of work performed in compliance with the CMMS data collection process.
Assists Level 2 and Level 3 Specialist in the diagnosing and repair of HVAC control system sensors and devices using proper inspection, testing, and monitoring techniques while exhibiting safe and proper use of tools.
Supports the energy management team to reduce energy consumption by monitoring and adjusting schedules in the NBAS.
Interfaces with school personnel on scheduling events outside of normal operations to ensure a balance of energy savings and comfort levels.
Interacts with school administrators to educate on energy savings techniques while also building system-wide relationships based on a culture of cooperation and sustainability.
Monitors the NBAS after hours to ensure proper shutdown of equipment while also ensuring equipment uptime for after-hours events.
Captures records and analyzes energy usage data to ensure energy savings goals are met.
Attends and actively participates in training opportunities provided by the department. Works overtime as needed.
Conducts extensive self-study, reading, research, and practice to improve and maintain technical proficiency in front-end software and field devices used in the MCPSS Networked Building Automation Systems (NBAS).
QUALIFICATIONS
Some experience in the installing, programming, commissioning, or servicing of HVAC Controls is preferred. The ideal candidate will be familiar with diagnosis and repair of control systems and related HVAC systems and sensors.
Generally required knowledge includes basic HVAC controls systems, HVAC mechanical systems, and servicing techniques. Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent MCPSS in an ethical and professional manner. Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
PC experience required. Must be able to quickly become familiar with the design and layout of the MCPSS facilities to learn the locations of installed energy management control and monitoring systems, mechanical equipment, and understand operating procedures relating to energy management controls.
Must be willing to enter empty buildings after typical school hours.
