Tulane University School of Medicine's John W. Deming Department of Medicine is seeking an Endocrinologist Clinician to join the faculty. This is a full-time position within the Section of Endocrinology and Metabolism. The successful candidate will contribute to our excellence in clinical care, research, and education while expanding the clinical research of the section by opening and conducting clinical trials. This position is ideal for an ABIM-certified (or eligible) Endocrinologist with experience in diabetes care and/ or metabolism disorders.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care: Provide exceptional outpatient care in a variety of endocrine and metabolism disorders. Participate in consult services and provide care to patients with and without fellows-in training. Participate in quality initiatives and improvement projects. Comply promptly with billing, documentation, credentialing, and other administrative requirements.

Education & Mentorship: Train and mentor fellows, residents, and medical/graduate students. Supervise and mentor fellows-in-training in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Provide educational activities- including giving periodic Medical Grand Rounds lectures to faculty, fellows, residents, and students. Participate in quarterly evaluations of fellows-in-training.

Research & Clinical Trials: Recruit patients to investigator-initiated and collaborative clinical trials. Participate with fellows in research opportunities or self-directed research.

Institutional Collaboration: Engage with and collaborate with the broader university community. Access pilot grant programs and other collaborative research opportunities including through affiliations with Louisiana Clinical and Translational Science Center (LaCATS), the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS), and Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) programs.

These responsibilities may vary from time to time and will be assigned by the Section Chief of Endocrinology and Metabolism.

Clinical Work Sites:

East Jefferson General Hospital (EJGH) - LCMC Health: This academic and community health center is a 420-bed facility located in Metairie, LA with both inpatient and outpatient care.

University Medical Center New Orleans (UMCNO) is a 446-bed state-of-the-art, nonprofit academic medical center within the LCMC Health system that serves as South Louisiana's only Level I Trauma Center and a major teaching hospital for Tulane.

Other LCMC Health facilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • MD, DO, or foreign equivalent degree
  • Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine
  • Board certified or board eligible in Adult Endocrinology
  • Eligible for a Louisiana medical license

Preferred:

  • Experience developing a clinic and referral pipeline
  • Experience in developing and implementing clinical trials
