Virginia Peninsula Community College is a two-year institution of higher education established as a part of a statewide system of community colleges. It primarily serves the residents of the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg, and the counties of James City and York.
The EMS Clinical Coordinator is responsible for providing oversight and support for all clinical aspects of the EMS Program (planning and organizing clinical and field courses). This position reports to the EMS Program Chair. The position works closely with program staff, clinical facility, and field site staff to ensure that each student has an appropriate educational experience.
The Clinical Coordinator will directly support the EMS Program Chair in duties related to the organization and scheduling of clinical sites and will develop the rotation schedule using the appropriate computer software for the clinical year. They will monitor student progress in their rotations and competencies, and work with clinical sites to ensure their staffing requirements are met satisfactorily while students acquire clinical education and skills.
The Clinical Coordinator is primarily responsible for planning and evaluating hospital, pre-hospital, clinic, and/or field clinical instruction, and for providing the related services and support activities required for optimal student learning and effective educational programming. They will develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate all phases of the clinical training for the EMS Program. Additionally, the position is responsible for assisting the division with its lab and administrative duties, in cooperation with other division faculty and administrative staff. The ability to communicate in a timely and effective manner (orally and in writing) and to pay attention to detail is essential. Be able to support multiple campuses with instructions from the PSAHHS Dean and EMS Program Chair.
This position requires working 20 hours per week.
This position is designated as Campus Security Authority (Clery Act) and Responsible Employee (Title IX).
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
