About the Position
This position serves as a professional-level Human Resources representative within the Employment Services division of East Mississippi State Hospital (EMSH), with a strong emphasis on recruitment and staffing support. The Employee Services Specialist is responsible for carrying out key recruitment functions, including job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination, selection support, onboarding, and employee processing, while ensuring compliance with EMSH, Department of Mental Health (DMH), and Mississippi State Personnel Board (MSPB) standards. The incumbent works closely with hiring managers and supervisors to meet critical staffing needs in a timely and effective manner, promote fair and consistent employment practices, and maintain accurate personnel and recruitment documentation.

To be successful in the Employee Services Specialist role, the candidate must demonstrate strong knowledge of state and hospital recruitment processes, excellent communication and customer service skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and professionalism. The individual should possess sound judgment, attention to detail, and the capacity to build collaborative relationships with supervisors, applicants, and staff. Success in this role also requires maintaining confidentiality, adapting to changing priorities, and consistently upholding the standards and values of East Mississippi State Hospital while ensuring a positive and compliant hiring experience for all candidates.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of experience. Agency preferred qualifications: Typically requires a bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field, and three to five years of professional-level HR experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the Mississippi State Personnel Board. Experience in recruitment, staffing, and selection processes is strongly preferred.
