Employee Relations Consultant, Sr.
Location: Houston, TX
Pay Rate: Starting at $56.00/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Onsite for the first month, then hybrid schedule available.
Dean's Professional Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Employee Relations Consultant to support a leading healthcare organization in Houston, TX. This role is ideal for an HR professional with extensive employee relations experience who excels at resolving complex workplace issues, conducting investigations, coaching leaders, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and organizational policies. The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership while fostering a positive, compliant, and high-performing workplace culture.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic advisor to leaders on complex employee relations matters, performance management, workplace conduct, and policy interpretation.
- Conduct thorough, impartial investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, and other workplace concerns while ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws.
- Interpret and apply federal, state, and local employment laws, organizational policies, and HR best practices to minimize organizational risk.
- Partner with leaders to develop appropriate corrective actions, performance improvement strategies, and employee relations solutions.
- Facilitate conflict resolution, mediation, and Employee Problem Solving (EPS) processes while promoting positive employee relations.
- Coach and educate managers on employee relations best practices, performance management, disciplinary actions, and workplace compliance.
- Collaborate with Human Resources Centers of Excellence, Legal, and business leaders to resolve complex employee issues.
- Maintain detailed, objective, and legally defensible documentation for investigations and employee relations cases.
- Analyze employee relations trends and recommend proactive solutions to improve engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness.
- Deliver training and educational sessions that translate complex employment laws and policies into practical guidance for leaders.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on FMLA, FLSA, ADA, PWFA, NLRA, EEO regulations, accommodations, attendance, and other employment-related compliance matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum 5 years of Human Resources experience, including 2 years of Employee Relations experience, required.
- Associate's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience may be considered.
- Juris Doctor (JD) may substitute for the required experience.
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, including EEO, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, PWFA, NLRA, and related regulations.
- Demonstrated experience conducting complex workplace investigations and preparing objective case documentation.
- Strong consultation, conflict resolution, mediation, and leadership coaching skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and critical thinking abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience working independently while managing multiple high-priority and sensitive employee relations cases.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HRIS systems.
