JOB SUMMARY:

The Emergency Department Supervisor assists the Director of Emergency Services and Emergency Department and Urgent Care Medical Directors in providing leadership, assuring smooth day-to-day department operations, and optimal patient experience.

Schedule:

  • 0.9FTE (36 hours)
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Variable Days

Compensation:

  • $45.22/hr + DOE

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supports and models behaviors consistent with Livingston HealthCare’s Standards of Excellence.
  2. Assists the Director of Emergency Services with providing leadership and motivation in the Emergency Department and Urgent Care. Supports colleagues, works to optimize workflows, and improve satisfaction for patients and staff.
  3. Supports the Director of Emergency Services with clinical expertise and advice by providing input and support with the maintenance and development of guidelines, procedures, policies and required reporting.
  4. Works with the Director of Emergency Services and Medical Directors to facilitate training and education opportunities to ensure best practices are being utilized.
  5. Assists the Director of Emergency Services with staff scheduling and payroll.
  6. Assists with staff rounding and employee engagement activities.
  7. Assists with Clarity reports in follow-up and opportunities for education and improvement.
  8. Assists with the yearly employee evaluation process, gathering input from other staff and providers.
  9. Assists the Director of Emergency Services in providing efficient communication and real-time daily feedback to Emergency Department and Urgent Care staff.
  10. Assists with chart reviews and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  11. Assists the Director of Emergency Services with service recovery and patient and family experience concerns.
  12. Participates in departmental projects and performance improvement initiatives.
  13. Develops proficient working knowledge of Cerner and assists in training clinical staff assuring consistency, compliance, and evolution of new workflows within the EHR (Cerner).
  14. Maintains and displays an appropriate degree of clinical expertise. Acts as a resource for providers, other medical staff, patients, and families.
  15. Bases decisions and actions on ethical principles and fosters a non-discriminatory, positive climate in which care is delivered in a manner sensitive to sociocultural diversity.
  16. Assists the Director of Emergency Services with interviewing, onboarding, training, and development of new staff.
  17. Assists the Director of Emergency Services with on-call department coverage.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the departments and organization.
  19. Contributes to the Emergency Department and Urgent Care Committee agendas and action items as appropriate.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Attends all staff meetings and relevant organizational meetings unless prior excused.
  2. Attends all mandatory in-service classes.
  3. Completes all annual related educational competencies.
  4. Current knowledge of healthcare environmental trends.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required):

  1. Current Montana RN license.
  2. Five years of clinical experience.
  3. Demonstrated leadership abilities; able to remain calm and work collaboratively in stressful situations.
  4. Possesses good oral and written communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated interpersonal relationships in a manner which enhances communication, promotes conflict resolution, and facilitates staff development.
  6. Skills and knowledge to sustain and evaluate clinical competence in caring for the specific age and type of patient populations served.
  7. Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
  8. PALS, TNCC, NIHSS and NRP certifications within one year of hire

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience with Microsoft office
  2. Experience with scheduling software
