Emergency Room Patient Access Representative
Responsibilities
Assist in emergency situations with calm and efficiency.
Facilitate patient check-in and registration efficiently.
Verify insurance information and eligibility promptly.
Coordinate with medical staff for patient admission processes.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
Handle patient inquiries and provide information courteously.
Monitor and report on patient access metrics regularly.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
Utilize technology to streamline patient access operations.
Experience/Qualifications
Demonstrate ability to focus in emergency situations.
Facilitate patient check-in and registration processes.
Prepare and maintain admission/discharge paperwork; ensure HIPAA compliance.
Promptly verify insurance information and eligibility.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Handle calls, billing inquiries, and maintain organized patient records.
Handle patient inquiries courteously and provide accurate information.
Manage follow-ups and referrals; optimize calendar to minimize wait times.
Collaborate with team to enhance patient access processes.
Required Skills
Education: High school diploma or GED (clerical/administrative experience preferred)
Communication: Strong verbal/written communication skills
Interpersonal: Empathy and patience to assist distressed patients
Organization: Accuracy in managing records, schedules, and billing
Technical: Familiarity with medical software and EHR systems
Detail-Oriented: Ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
