Emergency Room Clerk
Grundy County Memorial Hospital
Department: Emergency Department
Schedule: As-Needed (PRN)

 

Grundy County Memorial Hospital is seeking a friendly, organized, and team-oriented Emergency Room Clerk to support our Emergency Department team. In this role, you’ll help create a welcoming experience for patients and visitors while supporting critical day-to-day operations that keep care running smoothly.

 

This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, values teamwork, and takes pride in helping others during important moments. You’ll work closely with nurses, providers, patients, and support staff while playing an important role in patient registration, communication, and overall department support.

Responsibilities:
  • Welcome and assist patients, families, and visitors with professionalism and compassion
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls while supporting communication throughout the department
  • Complete patient registrations and insurance verification accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain patient information and documentation with a high level of confidentiality
  • Support emergency department operations through clerical and administrative tasks
  • Assist with coordinating patient admissions, transfers, and transportation services
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked care environment
  • Communicate effectively with providers, nurses, patients, and support teams
  • Support patient safety initiatives and follow infection prevention guidelines
  • Assist with department reporting, logs, and other operational support duties as needed
Qualifications:

Knowlege/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Professional and courteous phone communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, team members, and the public
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with a Windows-based environment
  • Willingness to learn new systems, technology, and role-specific competencies as needed
