Overview:

We are seeking a Patient Account Registrar (PAR), internally referred to as our Patient Access Representative or Patient Admissions Clerk, in the Admitting Department at Riverview Regional Medical Center (Gadsden, AL), a member of Prime Healthcare. As a Patient Account Registrar you will interview the patient or his/her representative to obtain patient demographics.

 

Shift’s Available:  Variable 

 

Employment Type: Full Time

 

Hours: Schedule will vary.  Hours will be either 11:00AM - 7:30PM or 3:00PM - 11:30PM every weekend.  You'll have two days off during the week.

 

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center – Gadsden, AL

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Secures insurance information, eligibility, benefits and authorizations as applicable.
  • Works closely with all facets of the Admitting department including PBX operator function and reception areas.
  • Must be able to operate a computer to input and retrieve data.
  • Ability to communicate with the population served, utilizing age specific techniques from neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle adult to geriatrics.
  • Maintain proficiency in medical terminology.
  • Special projects or other assignments may be given with expectations to be completed in a specified timeframe
Qualifications:

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:  

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer Services experience required.
  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires).

     

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus: 

  • Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
