EMERGENCY PLANNING COORDINATOR

Coordinates and updates emergency plans for the County: reviews and analyzes the Greenville County Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), including supporting appendices and annexes; research hazards and events that have impacted the County; coordinates the update of the Greenville County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan; coordinates with other County agencies and organizations to gather information and solicit feedback; updates plans, appendices, annexes, standard operating procedures, hazard vulnerability analysis and other relevant information in EOP documents; submits EOP for review and approval to Emergency Management Director, County Administrator and South Carolina Emergency Management Division; and reviews and updates other County emergency plans and documents, such as the Radiological Reception Plan, Continuity of Operations Plan, Emergency Management Strategic Plan, Incident Action Plans, and other plans as requested or assigned. Reviews emergency operations plans, evacuation plans, and hazard vulnerability analysis for multiple agencies and organizations; reviews and analyzes plans as requested or directed; and provides guidance, advice, and recommendations regarding needed changes and updates. Conducts outreach, education and writes reports; creates social media and newsletter content; plans and participates in safety events; updates website; and prepares and makes presentations regarding emergency management and emergency preparedness as requested. Participates in planning and implementation of training and exercises: coordinates with partner agencies and organizations to develop and evaluate training and exercises program; assists staff with development of multi-year training and exercise plan; identifies and addresses gaps and deficiencies in County capabilities; utilizes existing local and regional training opportunities; evaluates and assesses exercises; provides advice, guidance and recommendations regarding identified gaps in capabilities and service delivery; updates plans based on After Action Reports and Improvement Plans; and maintains related documentation and reports. Performs other related duties as required. Associate degree in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Public Safety, or related field required; supplemented by three years of experience in emergency planning and hazard mitigation planning; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver"s License. Strong writing, communication, and analytical skills.
