We are hiring immediately for Embedded Systems Architect Engineer in our Westminster, CO office. The position has the flexibility to work in the office, work from home, or a combination. Your Career As an Embedded Systems Architect Engineer, you will lead the design and development of embedded hardware systems, ensuring seamless integration with real-time operating systems and mission-critical frameworks. You'll analyze, select, and integrate hardware components while collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions for aerospace environments. What you'll do day-to-day: You'll start your day by reviewing design challenges and working closely with mission architects to refine embedded hardware specifications. Your morning could include selecting critical components, analyzing hardware trade-offs, and ensuring compatibility with real-time software frameworks. By midday, you might be deep into a hardware analysis session-evaluating power efficiency, signal integrity, or thermal performance. You'll collaborate with vendors to identify the most reliable hardware options while preparing for design reviews with cross-functional teams. In the afternoon, you'll test and validate prototypes, troubleshooting integration challenges alongside software engineers. You'll fine-tune hardware performance to ensure seamless interaction with RTOS environments, ensuring every component meets strict aerospace standards. At the end of the day, you'll document your progress and outline the next steps for hardware iterations, knowing your work directly contributes to the reliability and success of critical aerospace systems. Minimum Qualifications: Must be a U.S. Citizen Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in embedded hardware system design, preferably in the aerospace or defense sector. Strong understanding of system architecture principles for embedded hardware platforms, including space-grade or radiation-tolerant systems. Familiarity with FPGA programming and low-level driver development. Knowledge of cybersecurity requirements for embedded systems. Hands-on experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and system-level testing. Experience with hardware/software integration, including working closely with RTOS frameworks. Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and certification processes (e.g., DO-254, MIL-STD). Preferred Qualifications: Architect and design embedded hardware systems, ensuring alignment with system requirements and aerospace industry standards. Define system interfaces and lead hardware/software integration activities. Perform system-level trade studies and recommend optimal design paths to balance performance, power, size, and cost. Collaborate with software engineering teams to ensure hardware compatibility with real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as VxWorks, FreeRTOS, or QNX. Analyze timing and performance requirements, ensuring hardware designs meet the real-time constraints of mission-critical systems. Evaluate and select processors, FPGAs, memory modules, and other critical components based on system needs and environmental constraints. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source reliable, high-performance hardware components. Lead hardware design reviews, validation, and verification processes.
