Embedded Software Engineer – Linux, FPGA & Hardware IntegrationLocation: Germantown, MD (Hybrid – 4 days onsite per week)
Salary: $125,000–$155,000 annually

Responsibilities:Our growing client is seeking an
Embedded Software Engineer to help design, develop, and test advanced embedded systems that support next-generation cybersecurity technologies. This is an opportunity to work on complex hardware and software platforms while collaborating with engineers, physicists, and cryptographers, developing innovative security solutions.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the design, development, testing, and validation of embedded systems.
- Develop embedded software, Linux kernel modules, and Linux user-space applications.
- Design and integrate hardware, FPGA logic, and embedded software.
- Support analog and mixed-signal hardware design reviews, debugging, and validation.
- Participate in hardware bring-up, system integration, and troubleshooting.
- Develop manufacturing tools, automated testing procedures, and validation processes.
- Architect future embedded platforms by gaining deep technical knowledge of secure systems and hardware technologies.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering efficiency while maintaining full ownership of code quality and correctness.
- Help establish best practices for AI-assisted software development across the engineering team.
- Assist with technical planning, project coordination, and engineering execution.
Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 4+ years of embedded software development experience.
- Strong experience developing software for embedded Linux platforms and Linux kernel environments.
- Expert-level programming experience with C and C++.
- Experience with Python and/or Bash scripting.
- Experience configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Linux-based systems.
- Experience with embedded hardware bring-up and debugging.
- Familiarity with FPGA development using Verilog or VHDL.
- Understanding of RF, low-noise analog circuits, or mixed-signal hardware is preferred.
- Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other electronic lab equipment.
- Familiarity with digital signal processing or control system algorithms is a plus.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools while maintaining engineering ownership and code quality.
