Performs embalming activities respectfully and accurately, including verifying identification, restorations, removals, dressing, styling, and cosmetic application.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Handles deceased with care, ensuring proper identification and authorization.
  • Maintains compliance with all licensing and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with preparation room and facility maintenance.
  • Cleans equipment and manages hazardous materials safely per safety data sheets.
  • Manages chemical and supply inventory and receives caskets and supplies.
  • Promotes a safe work environment by practicing universal precautions.
Minimum Requirements:

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited mortuary college or relevant degree as required by law.
Experience:
  • Embalmer or apprentice experience as per legal requirements.
  • Preferred: 2+ years in a high-volume funeral embalming facility.
Licenses:
  • Must meet all licensing standards and hold a current driver’s license.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Acceptable driving record and ability to lift over 75 pounds.
  • Proficiency with computers and MS Office.
  • High compassion, integrity, communication, and problem-solving skills.
